Pérez joined the team in 2021, following a phenomenal final season with Racing Point in which he claimed his maiden F1® win. Seemingly out of a race seat, it was later revealed that he would drive alongside Max Verstappen in 2021.
He had a great inaugural year with the team, claiming a race victory, however his best years were yet to come. In 2022, Pérez finished third in the Drivers’ Standings with a total of 305 points. These were accumulated via two race wins, seven second places and two third place finishes. As well as this, his efforts, along with his Verstappen’s, lead to the team winning their first Constructors’ Championship since 2013. In 2023, despite scoring slightly less points, Pérez finished runner up in the Championship.
